What IS a Zanpakutou?
A zanpakutou is a physical manifestation of a persons abilities, commonly taking on the shape of a sword or some variation thereof. These physical manifestations often times have incredible powers and special affects that make them worth trying to get.
How do I get one?
Zanpakutous can be obtained only in the otherworld. Much like the power up moves they must be obtained from the kais in a session of no less than 3K words.
I have to DIE to get one?
No. As seen in DBZ living beings are able to survive in the otherworld. How you get there though is another matter. Do note though that the living are not able to learn any of the moves from the otherworld, they are limited to only retrieving Zanpakutou.
Why should I get one?
The special effects of a zanpakutou makes them entirely worth the trouble. These effects require a move to unlock them, but even that's worth the trouble.
Do I have to do anything special to get those moves?
Not really, no. Both moves must be achieved in character in specially marked topics of no less than 3K each.
What do these moves do?
Whatever you want them to do. Once both moves are unlocked you are granted an instant +1 move to be used to create an ability for your zanpakutou.
For serious?
Yeah. Shikai and Bankai can only be achieved IN character in specially marked topics. When achieved the character is instantly granted a + 1 move to create a single base ability for his sword. This can be expanded upon later. Stat affecting abilities have a MAX of + 3 when coming from the Zanpakutou. Bankai MUST be a progression of shikai. If the shikai hurls Rail spikes, the bankai can not hurl asteroids, we may discuss its ability to hurl trains however.
What does progression mean?
It means an ice sword won't suddenly burst into flames. It means a gun won't randomly turn into masamune. It means you can't have it be the opposite of what you started it as. If the shikai ability was to create walls, the bankai ability will not be to move at hyper speed.
What if it gets broken?
Zanpakutous are physical manifestations of your inner strength. If it gets broken, so long as a large enough piece remains it will regenerate and repair itself. If a zanpakutou was broken down to the handle it would take an in game week for it to restore itself completely. However should it be broken into pieces too small to find it will be considered destroyed.
If I get bored with it can I change what my sword does? If it gets destroyed can I get a new one?
My recommendation is to make sure you get an ability you won't get bored of. If your zanpakutou is destroyed we'll discuss the possibility of a new one being granted. Some other things to keep in mind in this situation is the fact that if you are given the chance to get a new zanpakutou, the abilities won't be able to change completely(You can change the element it used, or its range. You can not design an entirely new shikai or bankai). Any moves you created specifically for that weapon will be removed if the new sword is not capable of performing them.
