So you are interested in some good old roleplaying are you? Well... Consider this your crash course into the 'Legendsverse'.
(This is a work in progress)
So, first you got to be asking yourself, 'What goes on here?'
Answer is that we are a non-canon based DBZ Rpg. Set 2200 years AFTER DBZ. What that means is that we do NOT use the characters from the series as OUR characters. Rather, we create our own characters, which we own and control. By setting it so far after DBZ we can create our own storyline, setting, and universe to play within. We are a text based Rpg. That means that you get stronger though the simple process of writing. You write a story, and you get stronger for it. Easy as cheese, eh?
Well, that begs the question 'How good of a writer do I need to be?'
The answer to that is: it doesn't matter. We prefer you to have a grasp on the english language and know where to put capitals and punctuations. Other than that? *shrug* You get better by being here, we've seen it happen. Hell, it happened with our own writing. Most people come here as low-average level writers. They turn into above average in comparison to their peers. We take great pride here that we nurture, provide input, and guide own new guys onto the path to not only greatness with their characters, but within their own writing ability.
Okay... But... Why don't you do like other RPs and give stats for just being a member, and not require people to roleplay?
We write. We make our own stories. We aren't a video game. We aren't an MMO. We are a bunch of (extremely amateur) writers creating an amazing and intense universe through will of our own imaginations and creations. If you can't handle having to actually contribute to creating this universe, that is okay. We understand that this type of board isn't for everyone. It takes a certain kind of individual to get fully immersed in the feel and landscape of a multi-user created universe.
Okay, I'm interested... So what's the backstory of this universe?
Well, like stated, its 2200 after the end of DBZ. Since then there have been alot of battles, wars, and events that shaped the universe. Recently, there was a 200 year war between the 'Alliance' and the 'Remnant' the alliance are the most commonly recognized races (and a few of our own creation) from DBZ. Saiyans, Humans, Namekians and Draconics make up the Alliance.
The Remnant are made up of folks that have been getting their butts kicked by the 'good guys' since DBZ and beyond. Humans, Icers/Changelings, Demons, Majins, and a new race called the Xantam make up the Remnant. Neither the Alliance or Remnant is inherently good or evil, though the Alliance is more widely accepted is the heroes.
Go on...
Well, 6 months ago there was a treaty signed ending the war. Now, the Remnant and Alliance have to attempt to live in Peace in a universe that has only known War for so long. Can it happen? That depends on you and me.
Alright, we've got a nice start... Lets shift into lightning round mode...
Where can I find the official History?
DBZ Legends Timeline. Here.
Where can I find the possible Races/Species I can choose from?
Races of Legend: Here.
Where do I find the character sheet/template?
Character sheet: Here.
Okay, where do you explain what each stat does?
Well, I'll do it right here.
Strength: How strong your character is.
Stamina: How long your character can generally fight for.
Speed: How fast your character is.
Fortitude: Basically, how tough your character is. High fort means he can take a beating, low fort means he has a glass chin.
Elemental: How strong your character is in using the various elements (Fire, Wind, Water, Psychic, Darkness, Light, Electricity, etc.)
Mental/Psychic: Basically, how strong your characters mind is. A high mental means he can make strong psychic attacks, but also means he can DEFEND against strong pyschic attacks.
PL/Power Level: Your strength in using Ki techniques.
Further explain Elements please:
Alright.
Well, to begin with, there are the elements. Duh. I listed them above. Being strong in elemental doesn't simply mean you can make great lightning or fire blasts, but rather... It's also a gauge of how strong you are against them. When you create a character you can choose 2 of the listed elements. In addition, you are allowed to exchange your 'combat specialty' for another element, giving you three. If you do that, you are expected to fight predominantly with that element.
Why is Psychic listed as an element AND a stat?
Simple. Psychic is a sort of element. Only it is a strange case. It is not affected by your elemental score. Rather, your strength or defense in psychic attacks is determined by your Mental/Psy stat. In order do make Psychic attacks you MUST have Psychic as an element, but must put points into your mental score, rather than element, to strengthen them. In no way are psychic attacks affected by an elemental score. Choosing psychic as an element is simply a way of keeping everyone from being a Psy-warrior. You must choose to be one from the start.
Alright, I've looked at the stats, the moves, filled out the rest. Where do I post my sheet?
Unapproved Characters Right there buckaroo.
Woah, I know I posted my sheet... Where did it go?
Depends... Approved Characters Depending on whether your character was alliance, remnant, or unaffiliated, check the correct forum. If its not there, someone screwed up and put it in the wrong one.
Whats this wordbank, and how do i add to it?
Wordbank is a bank, for your words. You can put up to 1/4th of the words in any session in the bank. You must state it when asking for marks, and you will not get marked on them at that time. However, at a 'bank point' in a saga, you will be allowed to use them. Bank points include tree of might moments, big fusions, hyperbolic time chamber training, going Super Saiyan, etc. You will be allowed to then USE your bank words and make a dramatic, and fast increase in all your stats. You arent getting MORE stats, or extra ones. But its simply there to give you the possibility of 'Goku' moments. Its for fun. Wordbank accounts are here: Word Bank
Where do I find the techniques? And how do i present them on my sheet?
There are 2 lists of techniques, the first is the official DBZ one where you take base on stats, found here: Move List
The second is a list of user created techniques, you just have to go through them to see if they are available to the public, and if you have the requirements for them: UCML
Where can I roleplay my character?
Well, if he's a remnant character, find a remnant section of the board. Fearun, Remnant space, Kold Space, etc. If he's alliance, Earth, Black Genesis, Vegeta, etc.
How do I get in touch with other members?
Well, as your sheet had a section for screennames on it, so does everyone elses. Find them and talk to 'em. AIM is the preferred IM of choice on legends.
Can I use NPCS?
Of course! Npcs are great! Train with them, kill them, use the masters to teach you things, etc. There is a list of each affiliation (remnant, alliance, etc) important Npcs in each approved characters forum. (These you CANT kill. Kill your own Npcs)
How do I get more stats?
Simply write a story somewhere. Training under a master, fighting against a foe, going on some adventure to find a lost weapon, etc. It's up to you! Once you finish a session, simply post 'Finished, Mark!' in the last post at the very bottom and a mod/admin will get to it asap. Post a link to it in the finished topics forum if you want to make sure it is seen.
How do I update?
Once you are given marks, check them. They will be in the same thread as your roleplay you asked for marks in. If you asked for bank, check your bank balance to make sure its up to date. If you don't, please don't whine six months later when you finally notice its wrong. Check asap and often. Keep this machine rolling smooth with us. After you get your stats, usually in the form of something like '+2 to all +4 freebies +1 technique':
Go to your character sheet thread, copy and paste your stats in a new post, and add those marks. +2 to all means every stat gets 2 points to it. With 7 stats, thats a total of 14 points there alone. The 4 freebies can go to any stat, excluding PL. Freebs NEVER go to pl. Don't put more than 1/2 your freebies into one stat. If you get more than 10 freebies, no more than 1/3rd. Try to spread em out just a little. After that, add the new total (14+4=18) So add 18 to whatever your previous total was, and put it at the bottom of the stats, beneath pl. Then, go to the techniques forums i told you about earlier, and find one you have the requirements for, and want. And post it in the update post as well.
Thats all i got for now... Good luck!
